Matt
Hello,
I could not find a definitive answer on this, there is some information pointing to this being expected behavior, though it is not confirmed. If you want to look further into this please open a Support request to troubleshoot.

Hello,
Found some information that this could be a known issue. To confirm please open up a Support request to diagnose.

Hello,
Do you know if this is a free hypervisor?, If I install this can I change the license after the installation?
I get the same error. Every time I close VMWare it throws an error saying "VMWare Fusion quit unexpectedly". I'm not positive, but it seems it started happening around the time I upgraded to Sierra. It's a shame too, because it feels like VMWare is trying to get me to pay to upgrade to 8 even though I don't need it.
Here's the Error Report:

Thanks Matt. I got busy with other stuff. But we did get this working with server side SSL. I forget all
of the needful but it is doable.
Hi Wil,
Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, my config file on the esxi side already has this:
config.version = "8" virtualHW.version = "12"
So I'm not sure what to change if it is already correct

Hello,
What are the permissions on the virtual machine files (vmx, vmdk)?
Matt
Hello,
One of those should have made some progress. Have you tried this with another OS?
Matt
Hello,
If you look at the performance of the host are there any metrics that are toward the high side?
Matt
Nice. Good to hear you have resolved the issue.
The first thing that comes to mind (with your other post Diagnosing slow Windows 10 guest performance about Win10 not able to run a WinSAT due to encoding problem) is whether you installed VMware Tools. Same question as well for your other VMs.
If you don't mind posting the dxdiag of your host machine and each individual VM; and a recent VMware.log of the VMs that you want to diagnose. This way we don't have to go back and forth about every detailed configuration parameter.
Agree with your points about the way the error (or maybe even non-error) is handled.
But anyway, to the point of getting the VM running in Fusion 8.x Pro; since it is already HW version 12, it should be compatible.
You should be able to download the VM straight from the ESXi 6.5 datastore where the VM is stored using ESXi 6.5 UI HTML client (assuming that you have the appropriate access rights and know how to do it). After you download it, rename the folder with a .vmwarevm extension and it should become a VMware Fusion bundle that you can open in Fusion.
Should you decide to attempt the download and it doesn't work after downloading over 100GB, I disavow all responsibility. But -- this message will NOT self destruct in 5 seconds
A quick search of VMTN and I found this link: VHD file to VMDK It sounds like there are some free software options to convert the drive.
Let us know if that is helpful or not.
If you're using array based replication with SRM does that mean that all VM's you place on a LUN have to be part of a recovery plan?
Also, when you re-protect is the data still on the original LUN or does that get blown away (assuming nothing major happened to the SAN) and need to be completely replicated or is it still there and you push changes to it? Does that also mean you change the direction of the replication at the SAN level. Reprotect and make the original site the primary and change the replication back again?
Hey bluefirestorm -
Thanks. Oddly, I tried downloading it from the web interface, and couldn't figure out how to do that.
When I go into the shell, the disks look like this:
diskname.vmdk (a small text file) diskname-flat.vmdk (the actual binary data store)
So, I navigate to that same spot in the Datastore Browser (GUI), and it only shows the single disk, i.e.
diskname.vmdk
While it shows this as being the full size - 37.46GB for this disk - when I hit "download" all it does is download the 525 byte text file (header).
It is quite likely I am missing something, but whatever I am missing renders the download process quite useless.
So, my latest attempt is using a 3rd party backup software (verticalbackup) to make a copy to my main system.
I am scratching my head at why this is such a difficult process? One of the reasons I bought VMWare Fusion Pro was to manage VMs on an esxi box, but so far the benefit is quite limited....
Thanks for any further insights.
Morgan
You are awesome as usual, thanks for the help!
Hello.
To restore the NSX Edge after restoring the settings to the new NSX Manager r Can you deploy by displaying the displayed NSX Edge?
Just by restoring the settings to the new NSX Manager, NSX Edge recognizes that the virtual appliance will not be deployed simply by being displayed in "Web and Sphere Client" Netwoking and Security "NSX Edge".
Thanks, Wil.
I don't think the USB External drive is being put to sleep, as it is accessible from the Mac, meaning I see it and can access it and the data on it. Having done that, the VM Settings still DO NOT show any USB External disks. Having said that, I did check out the link you referenced and I will try the utility, "Keep Drive Spinning", to see if that helps. I'll post any results in a few days, as sometimes it takes a couple of days before it goes missing! (Points awarded IF it stays for several days!)
The VM is NOT stored on this external drive. Yes, unplugging the drive that contains the VM would be bad!!! And yes, that's experience talking! We all have to learn from experience.
Actually, I did call VMware support and they remoted in, looked at the settings and saw no USB disks available, said, "Hmmmm!", shut down the VM, restarted it and checked the Settings again, and of course the external disk was there, connected it and said, "There, all fixed.". So I thanked them, and now I thought I would ask the "world" if anyone has any ideas.
Again, thanks for your time and advice. I do appreciate it.
John
vROps Community Members:
Blue Medora is currently developing a new VMware vRealize Operations Management Pack for Microsoft Azure SQL Database. We plan to release the vROps MP for Azure SQL in late Q1/17.
If vROps integration with Azure SQL is something that is relevant to you, Blue Medora's product management team is very interested in talking to you about what aspects of Azure SQL integration you like to see surfaced in vROps, which specific aspects of Azure SQL your organization most commonly leverages, as well as any specific troubleshooting / diagnostic use cases you have around integrating Azure SQL-based metric, query, alert, capacity, and workload placement information into vROps.
This solution will complement Blue Medora's other existing database/data-tier focused vRealize Operations Management Packs:
