We had the same issue when setting up VMware Horizon. The password for our admin who was doing the registration had a couple characters that it wouldn't allow you to use but just threw a general error. We finally figured it out by using a different account. I wish these were 1) standardized across all VMware applications and 2) noted somewhere.
